Pot Kettle Black - 9/23 @ the Mayan in L.A.

I know this vids been out awhile, but it still makes me smile.

All these people talkin’ ’bout you now, they don’t make no difference no. We always have the rhythm here, in our blood and in our souls. So let the beat control you now, there’s nothing here to care about. Just you and me let’s break it down, so follow me I’ll show you how.

xxxTuesday's New ReleasesXXX

It is 9/30/08.  Do you know where your new music is?  Here is a good place to start!

Tom Morello kicks off this week with a release of much quieter rageful political rants... with just Morello and his acoustic guitar. Should be interesting to see hear the flipside of Rage!

Dark, brooding and spatial-Mercury Rev are going out on a more experimental limb this time. Seems dashing!

A film on Lou Reed directed by Julian Schnabel. A historic concert from Reed's 1973 album Berlin.

As Halloween begins rounding the corner... so does another release of Danny Elfman's songs from The Nightmare Before Xmas, all covered by prominent artisits today. If you haven' t heard Manson or Fiona's contributions, you should!

See last week's take a leak... if you have a baby... they will be interested as well.

Let's move to what we've all been waiting for now for years and years... a Melissa Etheridge Christman album. Oh Joyous Holy Holy!

Another effort from Jack's Mannequin. Anybody still got stars in their eyes?

An official release to track the Faery Goddess' journey in the early years dating from pre-Little Earthquakes mania to the tour following the release of the album. Tori's massive growth and appeal are easily seen over the 2 shows spanning 2.5 years. Well worth it for all the Ears With Feet.

Ben Folds is still a 1. I miss the 5 days. This album is supposed to be odd and quite funny... the title suggests just the same.

"On the last album I wanted to let people into my walk of life and connect my life to them and this album is more about involving great minds, hearts and spirits around me." -Robin Thicke

"Paper Trail"is a direct reference to T.I.'s return to literally writing down his lyrics- a practice he hasnt engaged in since his debut.  The album features guest appearances and production by Lil Wayne. Rihanna, Usher, The Dream, Fall Out Boy, Kanye West, B.O.B, John Legend, DJ Toomp, Swizz Beatz, Drumma Boy, & Danja.  Shit!  Who didn't help?  Diddy?

Along with these releases there are several CCR albums re-mastered as well as U2 this week.  It's hard to keep track of all the mastering and re-mastering and masturbating... ehrmmm ah well.

Don't forget to tell us what you love this week, and what you hate that we didn't post as excellent new releases.  (Go ahead, ask my why I didn't include Idols' Kelly Pickler and Jennifer Hudson's releases of the day... not to mention a little Trisha Yearwood action-well there you have it!)

Cheers,

The Righteous Babe makes her first return since having a babe herself. Petah is her baby's name... and her new album "Red Letter Year" marks her first album in over 2 years! Knowing the prolific Ani and her 1 album a year pace thus far (on some occasions 2 albums a year!)... she has certainly slowed things down a bit for the new little life in her world.  We're happy for you Ani, but one album about babies may be quite enough.  Petah would enjoy the Beat Bear... bob your head to the Bear's groove! Oh yeah... and have a look around... find right site to... TAKE A LEAK!

Baby Songs:
1. Landing Gear (apparently Ani gave birth to an airplane?)
2. Present/Infant

On Politics:
3. Alla That
4. Red Letter Year

xxxBart Davenport - A Young OneXXX

A Young One - Bart Davenport
Or... Burt Baccarac? :) This truly draws the line for me between corny/catchy... and an SNL skit.

What Is Said About This Fellow:
"He can sell you a bill of love that from anyone else would seem corny and make you believe again - in the long summers of blissful youth, in dancing the night away. Bart Davenport grew up in Berkeley California, where he lives today. In 2007, you may have seen him fronting the electro future-funk trio called Honeycut, or you may have heard their song “Exodus Honey” in a recent iMac ad. Perhaps you caught his one-man softrock show between the trees and beards of Big Sur or way over yonder in England, Spain or Germany. Bart’s songs have captivated audiences worldwide for years, dating back to his time as a frontman for mod/blues combo The Loved Ones.
On Palaces, his fourth solo album and third for Antenna Farm, he delves into his heart and soul to give us a collection brimming over with arresting melodies, heartfelt lyrics and subtle musical touches that compliment his open, affable vocals, all delivered with his trademark combination of quiet passion and subtle wit." -Antenna Farm Records

Take him or leave him... he is here to spread the loooveee groove.  His album "Palaces" is available now!

That's right... Reeve Carney & Co. will be having a bit of a farewell concert tonight at the Troubadour. It's your last chance for what could be a good while. The new album drops around January or February and then, on the road again for Carney. It's $10 at the door. Two openers tonight, the first features Paris Carney on vocals. Should be fantastical!

Here is "Alright" live at Maxwells.

Grab your Tums.  Acid Tongue is finally here in all it's beebop twang-a-lang glory.  Thoughts?

Kings of Leon have outdone themselves this time.  The southern rockers return.  We've had "Sex On Fire" in constant rotation at the Beach House.  Please do the same.

Remember Cowboy Mouth?  What was that song about turning lights off?  Hmmm... Nice to see they are still around.  Few bands like this survived the 90's.

"Dear Science" brings TV on the Radio back to the Radio.  Experimental pop lives on!

Cold War Kids are still indie-ing their way into the hearts of many.  How will this album stack up to their last effort?  It's going to be tough.  A cold war, even.

And Jackson Browne is still out there making music.  I think I see a little girl running, trapped inside his sunglasses.  Dear Father Time, what does it all mean?
